TRAINEES

The society has over 150 trainee members and they form a vital part of the society. We encourage all trainees in the South West to enroll. The meetings are an educational and social event – befriend your colleagues away from work, improve your CV, and learn something too. It’s an absolute myth that SASWR is a society for grey-haired anaesthetists.

As a trainee member, you enjoy all the benefits of membership, but pay reduced subscription and meeting registration fees, and reduced charges for the society dinners.

You should consider submitting an article to the Society journal, Points West. Audit, research and general interest articles are warmly welcomed and are a great way to add to your ‘publications’ area of your CV. We will not hold your copyrights so you can still chase that peer-review publication as well.

SUPPORTING TRAINEES

Two trainee representatives from the two Deaneries sit on the SASWR committee. See the contacts page.

There are bursaries and prizes available to trainee members, The Intersurgical Prize has possibly the most valuable cash award around, and competition (although strong) is less than National prizes, such as GAT.

RESEARCH

SASWR proudly supports the region’s two trainee-led research networks, STAR and SWARM.

We also support the sustainability networks, offshoots of STAR and SWARM.
